The Type AC designation means it detects sinusoidal AC residual currents only, which covers the majority of standard resistive and inductive loads in commercial and residential panels. The 300 mA sensitivity is sized for fire protection and general equipment protection rather than personal shock protection (which typically requires 30 mA or less).
