What the ratings mean for fit
The 5SU1654-1RC06: The 6 A rated current with C characteristic means the magnetic trip operates at 5 to 10 times rated current — suited for circuits with moderate inrush, like lighting banks or small motor loads. The 300 mA Type AC residual current trip detects sinusoidal AC earth faults only; it is not suitable for pulsating DC or smooth DC fault currents (those need Type A or F). Breaking capacity is rated at 10 kA per EN 60898 and 35 kA per IEC 60947-2. The EN 60898 figure governs residential and commercial distribution board coordination; the higher IEC 60947-2 rating applies when the device is used in industrial installations where prospective fault current may be higher. Overvoltage category III confirms it is designed for fixed installation downstream of the utility meter. The 1P+N design switches the line conductor only; the neutral is switched but not protected against overcurrent. This is standard for single-phase final circuits where neutral protection is not required by local code.
Where it is used
This RCBO is designed for DIN-rail distribution boards in residential, commercial, and light industrial installations. It provides combined overcurrent and earth fault protection in a single 2-module package, saving space compared to separate MCB + RCCD. The IP20 rating (with connected conductors in an installed distribution board) means it is intended for enclosed panel use only — not for wet or outdoor locations.
