The Siemens 5SU1654-6KV13 is a combined residual-current device and miniature circuit breaker (RCBO) — an FI/LS-protector in Siemens' 5SU6 series. It packs Type A earth-leakage detection (IΔn 300 mA) and a 1+N-pole B-curve 13 A overcurrent trip into a single 70 mm-wide DIN-rail module. The 10 kA breaking capacity at the rated voltage covers most commercial and light-industrial sub-distribution boards where fault levels stay under that threshold.
What the ratings mean for fit
Type A detection means it responds to sinusoidal AC fault currents and pulsating DC fault currents up to 6 mA smooth DC superimposed — essential where downstream loads include single-phase rectifiers, switched-mode supplies, or dimmers that can mask a residual current from a pure Type AC device. The 300 mA trip threshold is sized for fire protection or equipment protection rather than personnel shock protection (30 mA is the human-safety standard); expect this on circuits feeding fixed equipment where the earth-leakage target is cable or connector insulation integrity, not direct touch. The B-curve 13 A overcurrent characteristic trips magnetically between 3 and 5 times rated current (39–65 A), so it clears short-circuits fast but holds through the inrush of resistive or lightly inductive loads. It is not intended for motor-starting duty — a C-curve would be the usual choice for small motor or transformer primary protection.
