What this RCBO is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5SU1654-7RC16 is a combined residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO) in a 2-module wide, 2-pole housing. It carries a 16 A rated current with C characteristic for short-circuit and overload protection, plus a Type A residual current device rated at 300 mA. Type A means it detects sinusoidal AC fault currents and pulsating DC fault currents up to 6 mA smooth DC — the standard for circuits with single-phase rectifiers, switched-mode power supplies, or variable-speed drives that can generate pulsating DC leakage. The C characteristic (10× to 20× In magnetic trip) suits motor and lighting circuits where inrush is higher than a B-curve would tolerate without nuisance tripping.
