Derating and mounting — what the numbers actually mean for a panel build
At 30 °C ambient the device carries its full 10 A. But as the panel warms up — and it will, with other breakers and contactors sharing the enclosure — the rated current drops steadily: 9.5 A at 40 °C, 9 A at 50 °C, 8.5 A at 60 °C, and 8 A at 70 °C. If you're populating a densely packed consumer unit or a small distribution board, you need to check the actual ambient temperature at the breaker's location, not the room temperature. A 10 A circuit loaded to 9 A continuous in a 50 °C panel is already at its limit — no headroom for a startup surge. The installation depth is 70 mm (body depth 77 mm including the front projection), so it fits standard 80 mm deep distribution boards. IP20 is the rating, but that's only valid when the distribution board is installed and the conductors are connected — the front face is touch-protected (finger-safe), but the terminals aren't sealed against dust ingress until the board cover is on.
