RCBO for final-circuit protection
The Siemens 5SU9346-7CR16 is a current-production RCBO (residual-current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection) rated Icn 6 kA, 1P+N, Type A, 30 mA residual sensitivity, C-characteristic, In 16 A, Un AC 230 V. That means it combines a 16 A miniature circuit breaker (C-curve for motor-start and moderate inrush loads) with a 30 mA Type A residual-current device in a single 1-module-wide unit — saving a DIN-rail position versus two separate devices. The 6 kA breaking capacity covers most residential and light commercial final circuits; the Type A residual detects pulsating DC fault currents that a standard Type AC would miss, making it suitable for circuits with electronic loads such as washing machines, LED drivers, or small VFDs.
Panel integration notes
The RCBO snaps onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail per EN 60715. Its 1-module width (approx. 18 mm) fits compact consumer units and sub-distribution boards. C-characteristic trips between 5× and 10× In (80–160 A magnetic release), so it handles the inrush of small motors, pumps, and transformers up to about 3.5 kW at 230 V without nuisance tripping. The 30 mA residual threshold provides additional shock protection for socket-outlet circuits and portable equipment.
