What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SU9354-7KK16 is a SENTRON RCBO — an RCD-operated circuit breaker combining overcurrent and residual-current protection in a single 2-module-wide (36 mm) package. It protects a single-phase final circuit at 16 A rated current, with a 30 mA type A residual-current trip sensitive to pulsating DC fault currents as well as sinusoidal AC. The C characteristic (tripping between 5× and 10× In) suits loads with moderate inrush, such as small motor drives, lighting banks, or control transformers in a panel.
Breaking capacity and standards
Rated breaking capacity is 10 kA per both EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, so it clears a bolted fault up to that level without external current-limiting fuses in most domestic and light commercial distribution boards. Insulation voltage is 264 V, overvoltage category III, pollution degree 2 — standard for fixed-installation final circuits. Surge voltage resistance is 4 000 V, and it handles a 1 kA 8/20 μs surge current.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto standard DIN rail, 2 module widths (36 mm wide, 77 mm deep, 90 mm tall). Installation depth is 70 mm behind the panel face. Supply can enter from top or bottom. IP20 rating applies once the distribution board is installed and conductors are connected — not a standalone outdoor device. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction matters for environments sensitive to outgassing (clean rooms, medical, or marine panels).
