The Siemens 5SU9356-7KP10 is a SENTRON RCD-operated circuit breaker — an RCBO combining overcurrent protection and residual current detection in a single 2-module (36 mm wide) package. Rated 10 A with a C tripping curve and Type A fault current sensitivity, it handles mixed loads with pulsed DC fault components common on single-phase electronics and small drives.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
Breaking capacity is 6 kA per EN 60898 and 10 kA per IEC 60947-2. The higher IEC figure gives headroom for industrial panel coordination where the upstream device is a molded-case breaker or fused switch; the EN figure governs domestic and light commercial distribution boards. Energy limiting class 3 means it lets through minimal let-through energy during a fault, which helps downstream selectivity.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated 10 A at 30 °C ambient, the continuous current derates to 9.4 A at 40 °C, 9.1 A at 45 °C, 8.7 A at 50 °C, and 8.1 A at 55 °C. Operating ambient range is -25 to +45 °C; storage range is -40 to +75 °C. In a sealed enclosure or near heat-generating gear, the 45 °C limit is the governing constraint — above that, the derating curve applies and the 45 °C max ambient must not be exceeded.
Panel fit and wiring
Width 36 mm (2 width units), depth 77 mm, installation depth 70 mm. Mounts on DIN rail in any position. Conductor cross-section range 0.75 to 35 mm² for both solid and stranded — covers everything from 1.5 mm² lighting circuits up to 10 mm² feeder tails. Supply can enter from top or bottom. Touch protection is integrated on the busbar side.
