Siemens 5SV1316-1KK16 — SENTRON RCBO, 1P+N, 16 A, C-curve
The Siemens 5SV1316-1KK16 is a 1P+N residual current operated circuit breaker (RCBO) from the SENTRON family, combining overcurrent and earth-fault protection in a single 18 mm wide module. The breaking capacity is 6 kA per EN 60898 for domestic/commercial panels and 10 kA per IEC 60947-2 for industrial distribution boards — that 10 kA figure is the one to use when coordinating with an upstream MCCB in an industrial panel. This is a 2-pole device (1P+N) with protection on the live pole only — the neutral is switched but not monitored for overcurrent. It's designed for single-phase final circuits where you need both fault protection and overcurrent protection in one DIN-rail slot.
The 16 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient, but it derates linearly as panel temperature climbs: 15.2 A at 40 °C, 14.72 A at 45 °C, 14.24 A at 50 °C, 13.76 A at 55 °C, 13.28 A at 60 °C, 12.8 A at 65 °C, and 12.32 A at 70 °C. If the panel runs hot, size up or leave a spare slot for airflow.
Rated insulation voltage is 253 V, surge voltage resistance is 4 kV, and the minimum test voltage is 195 V. Operating frequency is 50 Hz only — there's no 60 Hz rating in the spec, so verify compatibility if the site uses 60 Hz supply.
Height is 90 mm. The IP20 rating applies only when the distribution board is installed with connected conductors — it's not a standalone weatherproof device. Spring-cage terminals accept standard copper conductors; no special tools beyond a screwdriver for the clamping screws.
