What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SV1316-6LK06 is a 2-pole RCBO (residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection) from the SENTRON family, combining a B-curve MCB and a Type A RCD in a single 18 mm wide module. It protects a single pole against overload and short-circuit (B characteristic, 6 A rated) while the 30 mA Type A residual current unit detects sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC fault currents. The second pole is switched but not protected — a common arrangement for single-phase circuits where the neutral is switched. Rated breaking capacity is 6 kA per EN 60898 (the domestic-standard test) and 35 kA per IEC 60947-2 (the industrial-standard test). The higher 35 kA figure means it can interrupt faults up to that level without welding contacts or cascading failure upstream — relevant when the device sits in an industrial panel with high prospective fault current. The device is rated for overvoltage category III and pollution degree 2, which covers fixed-installation distribution boards in typical industrial and commercial environments. Touch protection is built in, and the IP20 rating applies once the distribution board is installed with connected conductors.
Thermal derating and mounting
The 6 A nominal rating holds at 30 °C ambient. Above that, the thermal-magnetic trip element derates linearly: 5.64 A at 40 °C, 5.28 A at 50 °C, 4.86 A at 60 °C, and 4.44 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs hot, size the circuit for the derated value — the trip curve shifts, not the protection logic. Mounting position is unrestricted (any orientation), and the unit occupies one modular width unit (18 mm) on a DIN rail. Supply can enter from either top or bottom. Installation depth is 70 mm behind the panel face; overall depth is 77 mm including the front projection.
