RCBO for final-circuit protection
The Siemens 5SV1316-7LK16 is a 1P+N RCBO (residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection) from the SENTRON series, combining a 16 A overcurrent trip with a 30 mA residual-current device in a single 18 mm wide module. The C characteristic means the magnetic trip operates at 5 to 10 times rated current — suited for circuits with moderate inrush, such as lighting banks or small motor loads, while the 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 covers most domestic and light commercial fault levels. Type A residual-current detection handles pulsating DC fault currents, so it is specified for circuits with single-phase rectifiers, switched-mode power supplies, or electronic loads where a pure AC-sensitive (Type AC) device would be blind.
Thermal derating and ambient limits
Rated 16 A at 30 °C ambient, the continuous current must be derated as panel temperature rises: 15.2 A at 40 °C, 14.72 A at 45 °C, 14.24 A at 50 °C, 13.76 A at 55 °C, 13.28 A at 60 °C, 12.8 A at 65 °C, and 12.32 A at 70 °C (–). Operating ambient range spans -40 °C to +75 °C, making it suitable for unconditioned enclosures or outdoor-rated panels within the IP20 installation boundary.
Panel integration and mounting
Snap-on mounting to DIN rail (implied by the 18 mm modular width and 1 MW designation), with a 70 mm installation depth and 77 mm overall depth — verify enclosure depth clearance before fitting. Supply can enter from either top or bottom; mounting position is any orientation. The IP20 rating applies only when the distribution board is installed with connected conductors — not a standalone outdoor device.
