What this RCBO is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SV1613-6KK16 is a 1P+N RCBO — a combined residual-current device and miniature circuit breaker in a single 18 mm wide module. It's rated 16 A with a B tripping characteristic, meaning it protects against overloads and short circuits in circuits with resistive and light inductive loads like lighting or small motor starters. The 300 mA residual-current element is Type A, so it detects sinusoidal AC faults plus pulsating DC fault currents — common in electronics-heavy circuits like VFDs, switch-mode supplies, or modern appliances. The breaking capacity is 4.5 kA per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2, which covers most domestic and light commercial distribution boards.
Where it fits — panel and environment
At 18 mm wide (one modular unit), this RCBO snaps onto a standard DIN rail and sits in a distribution board. The depth is 77 mm with a 70 mm installation depth, so it fits most standard enclosures without bottoming out on the backplane. It's rated IP20 once installed with conductors connected — fine for enclosed panels, not for washdown or outdoor exposure. The operating temperature range is -40 °C to 75 °C, which covers unheated utility rooms and hot switchgear cabinets. Mounting position is any, so it's fine upright, sideways, or upside-down in a crowded panel. The neutral conductor is switched internally, so you don't need a separate neutral bar connection downstream.
