The Siemens 5SV1616-7KK02 is a SENTRON RCBO — a combined overcurrent and residual-current circuit breaker in a single 18 mm-wide module (1 MW). It protects a single-phase final subcircuit against overload, short-circuit, and earth leakage, with a 2 A rated current, C-curve tripping characteristic, and a 300 mA Type A residual-current trip.
The 300 mA residual-current threshold is a Type A device, so it detects pulsating DC fault currents as well as sinusoidal AC — important for electronics-fed circuits (VFDs, switched-mode supplies). The 6 kA breaking capacity is the maximum prospective fault current the device can safely interrupt; it matches the typical 6 kA rating of domestic distribution boards. Note the 50 Hz only rating — not suitable for 60 Hz systems.
Temperature derating and installation
Above that, derate progressively: 1.9 A at 40 °C, 1.8 A at 50 °C, 1.7 A at 60 °C, and 1.6 A at 70 °C (–). In a crowded DIN-rail enclosure with poor airflow, the effective current capacity may be lower than the label.
