What it is and what the ratings mean
The Siemens 5SV3314-6KK01 is a 2-pole SENTRON residual current circuit breaker (RCCB), Type A, short-time delayed, rated 40 A and 30 mA residual sensitivity at 230 V AC. The 30 mA trip threshold covers personnel protection against direct contact; Type A detection handles sinusoidal AC and pulsating DC residual currents common in single-phase rectifier loads like switched-mode power supplies and LED drivers. Short-time delayed (selective) design means it withstands brief inrush or leakage pulses up to a defined duration without tripping, coordinating downstream with instantaneous RCCBs so only the faulted branch opens. The 10 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) per IEC 61008-1 means it can safely interrupt a fault up to that level; the conditional rating with a series fuse is 80 A maximum — coordinate the upstream protective device accordingly.
Panel fit and mounting
Snaps onto DIN rail (REG) in any orientation; occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm) with a 70 mm installation depth — fits standard 60 mm grid-spaced distribution boards. Supply can enter from top or bottom. Rated IP20 with conductors connected and the distribution board installed — suitable for enclosed panel environments, not for wet or washdown locations. Operating ambient range -25 °C to 45 °C; storage down to -40 °C. Silicon-free construction matters if the panel is in a painting or coating facility where silicone outgassing can cause surface defects.
