What this RCCB is and what it does
The Siemens 5SV3314-6KL is a 2-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) from the SENTRON family, designed for 230 V AC single-phase networks. It is rated 40 A with a 30 mA trip sensitivity and Type A waveform recognition, meaning it detects sinusoidal AC residual currents as well as pulsating DC residual currents — the standard requirement for circuits with single-phase rectifiers, switching power supplies, or electronic loads. The 10 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) per IEC 61008-1 means the device can withstand and interrupt fault currents up to that level without external series fusing, though a maximum permissible series fuse of 63 A is specified for backup protection if needed.
Mounting and panel fit
Snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail (REG) and occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm wide). The 70 mm depth and 90 mm height are standard for SENTRON modular devices, so it fits existing distribution board layouts with 60 mm grid spacing. Supply can enter from top or bottom; the neutral is on the left side of the device (N left). Mounting position is unrestricted. IP20 rated with conductors connected — suitable for enclosed distribution boards. The silicon-free construction is noted for environments where silicone outgassing can contaminate contacts or optics.
