What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SV3347-6 is a SENTRON residual current operated circuit breaker (RCCB) — a 4-pole, type A device rated 80 A with a 30 mA trip threshold on a 400 V AC, 50 Hz supply. Type A means it detects sinusoidal AC residual currents plus pulsed DC fault currents up to 1 kHz, which covers most single-phase rectified loads like switching power supplies and variable-speed drives. The 30 mA sensitivity is the standard for personal protection against direct contact in residential and commercial final circuits.
Mounting and panel fit
Snaps onto DIN rail (REG), occupies 4 modular width units at 72 mm wide, and needs 70 mm installation depth behind the panel. Mounting position is unrestricted — any orientation works. The IP20 rating applies once the distribution board is installed with conductors connected, so it's a panel-interior device, not for exposed outdoor use.
Electrical ratings and coordination
Rated short-circuit current withstand is 10 kA per IEC 61008-1 (0.8 kA rated conditional short-circuit current). The maximum permissible series fuse short-circuit current is 100 A — size the upstream protective device accordingly. Overvoltage category III means it's rated for fixed installation downstream of the main distribution board. Power loss runs 4.1 W per pole at rated current in hot operating state, which matters for thermal coordination inside a crowded enclosure.
