The Siemens 5SV3446-6LB01 is a SENTRON residual current operated circuit breaker (RCCB) — 4-pole, type A, short-time delayed, rated 63 A with a 100 mA trip threshold on a 400 V AC supply. Type A detection means it catches sinusoidal AC residual currents plus pulsed DC fault currents up to the 100 mA threshold — the standard for circuits feeding single-phase rectifiers, switch-mode supplies, and electronic loads where pure AC-only (type AC) devices would miss the pulsed DC component. The short-time delayed design (also called selective or S-type) introduces a deliberate delay before tripping, so a downstream RCCB clears a fault first and this unit stays in — that coordination keeps the upstream supply alive for the rest of the panel.
Fault current handling and coordination
Rated short-circuit current withstand is 10 kA (IEC 61008-1), with a permissible let-through current of 7 100 A and an I²t value of 110 000 A²·s — numbers a panel designer uses to verify the RCCB coordinates with the upstream overcurrent device under a bolted fault. Surge current resistance is rated 3 kA.
IP20 with conductors connected, overvoltage category III, ambient range -25 °C to +45 °C (storage -40 °C to +75 °C). Silicon-free construction — relevant for automotive or paint-shop environments where silicone outgassing can cause adhesion or coating defects.
