RCCB for 230 V AC branch circuits — 40 A, 30 mA trip
The Siemens SENTRON 5SV4314-0GV02 is a 2-pole RCCB rated for 40 A at 230 V AC, with a 30 mA trip sensitivity for AC fault currents. It carries a 10 kA SCCR. This is an instantaneous (non-time-delayed) design, so it trips within milliseconds on a residual current exceeding 30 mA. That makes it unsuitable for circuits with downstream surge arrestors or capacitive loads that generate brief leakage spikes — those need a selective (S-type) RCCB.
Thermal derating and conductor sizing
Above that, derate linearly: 38.1 A at 45 °C, 35.59 A at 50 °C, 32.29 A at 55 °C, 28.19 A at 60 °C, 23.3 A at 65 °C, and 17.62 A at 70 °C. If the panel internal temperature runs hot — common in crowded enclosures — the effective current capacity drops significantly; size the upstream MCB accordingly. The 70 mm depth and 36 mm width fit standard distribution boards.
