It's an AC-type device — that means it detects sinusoidal AC residual currents only, not pulsating DC or smooth DC. The 25 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 60 °C, only starting to derate at 65 °C (23.3 A) and 70 °C (17.6 A), so in a warm enclosure it keeps its full rating through most normal operating conditions.
The 5SV4342-0GV01 carries a 10 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) per IEC 61008-1, and 0.8 kA conditional rating per EN 60898. The I²t let-through is 58,000 A²·s, and the permissible let-through current peak is 5,200 A — both numbers a coordination engineer would use when sizing upstream protection.
Integration notes
DIN rail mount, 4 MW wide, 70 mm deep — it fits any standard SENTRON distribution board or enclosure. The IP20 rating applies only when installed in a distribution board with conductors connected, so it's not a standalone outdoor device. Silicon-free construction is specified, which matters for potting or conformal coating processes in certain industrial panels. Overvoltage category III means it's rated for fixed-installation distribution level, not for downstream socket outlets. The switching function is instantaneous — no short-time delay — so it trips immediately on a 30 mA fault. That's fine for personal protection, but if you have equipment with natural leakage (VFDs, UPS, switching supplies) that could cause nuisance tripping, you'd want a time-delayed or selective type (S-type) RCCB instead.
