Siemens 5SV4647-0KL SENTRON RCCB — 4-Pole, 80 A, 300 mA AC Type
The Siemens 5SV4647-0KL is a 4-pole SENTRON residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) rated at 80 A at 40 °C and 230/400 V AC, with a 300 mA AC-type trip threshold. It is designed for instantaneous operation — no short-time delay — making it a straightforward choice for earth-leakage protection on standard 50 Hz AC circuits where selectivity with downstream devices is not required. The 300 mA trip threshold suits it for whole-circuit or submain protection rather than individual socket-outlet or hand-held equipment protection, which typically calls for 30 mA. The 80 A rating at 40 °C means it can carry a 3-phase plus neutral load up to that current before the thermal-magnetic element (internal to the RCCB's construction) begins to derate. Thermal derating is published across the operating range: 77.57 A at 45 °C, 74.59 A at 50 °C, 70.22 A at 55 °C, 64.47 A at 60 °C, 57.35 A at 65 °C, and 48.84 A at 70 °C.
Snaps onto standard DIN rail (REG profile). Occupies 4 width units (72 mm) and requires 70 mm installation depth. The IP20 rating applies only when the distribution board is installed and conductors are connected; the device itself is finger and back-of-hand safe per the protection against electrical shock listing. Terminals accept conductors from 0.75 mm² minimum up to 35 mm² maximum. The N-left variation (neutral on the left side) matches the standard Siemens 5SV4 panel layout. Silicon-free construction is noted for applications sensitive to silicone outgassing.
Fault current and coordination
For circuits with pulsed DC or smooth DC fault currents (variable-speed drives, UPS, EV chargers), an A-type or B-type RCCB is required. I²t let-through rated at 110,000 A²·s. Overvoltage category III confirms suitability for fixed-installation panels.
