What the 5SV5311-0 is and what it does
The Siemens 5SV5311-0 is a 2-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) from the SENTRON family, Type AC, rated 16 A with a 30 mA trip threshold on a 230 V AC supply. The 30 mA sensitivity is the standard for personal protection against direct contact in residential and commercial final circuits — it clears a ground fault before it reaches a dangerous let-through energy level. The 6 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) means the device can safely interrupt a fault up to that level without welding contacts or rupturing the enclosure, provided the upstream overcurrent device is coordinated per IEC 61008-1.
Deployment context and mounting
Snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail (REG profile) and occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm) with a 70 mm installation depth — standard for a 2-pole RCCB in a distribution board. The IP20 rating applies only when the distribution board is installed and conductors are connected; the device itself is not sealed for washdown or outdoor exposure. Mounting position is unrestricted, and the supply can enter from top or bottom.
