Arc-fault detection device with integrated MCB
The Siemens SENTRON 5SV6016-6KK25 is an AFDD combined with an MCB in one compact unit — 18 mm wide on DIN rail. It protects a 230 V AC, 50 Hz circuit against arcing faults and provides overcurrent and short-circuit protection via the B-curve MCB section.
The B-curve tripping characteristic means the magnetic trip fires at 3 to 5 times rated current — 75 to 125 A for this 25 A unit. The arc-fault detection covers series arcs (up to 25 A, minimum 2 A) and parallel arcs (up to 500 A, minimum 50 A) (–), meaning it can detect a loose connection or a carbonised cable before the fault escalates to a fire. The 10 000 mechanical switching cycles reflect a service life consistent with a main distribution or sub-main position that sees occasional manual switching, not daily load-break duty.
Snaps onto DIN rail (REG) and occupies one modular width unit (18 mm). The 68.5 mm depth plus 70 mm installation depth means it fits standard distribution boards with 70 mm deep enclosures.
