Arc-fault detection and overcurrent protection in one module
The Siemens 5SV6016-6KK32 is a combined arc-fault detection device (AFDD) and miniature circuit breaker (MCB) from the SENTRON family, rated 32 A, B-curve, 1P+N, for 230 V AC 50 Hz circuits. It occupies a single modular width (18 mm) on a DIN rail, making it a space-efficient choice for residential or light commercial final circuits where both arc-fault and overcurrent protection are required per IEC/EN 62606 and EN 60898-1.
The 18 mm width (1 MW) and 68.5 mm depth leave room for adjacent devices in a crowded enclosure; the 70 mm installation depth accounts for the arc-fault electronics and wiring space behind the DIN rail. In a multi-pole or multi-device enclosure, sum the per-pole losses and check the cabinet's thermal dissipation — at 32 A load the device itself contributes roughly 5.7 W total (two poles), which is modest but not negligible in a sealed enclosure.
