The Siemens 5SV6016-7GV06 is a SENTRON arc-fault detection unit combined with a miniature circuit breaker (AFDD/MCB). It protects a 230 V AC final circuit against both overload/short-circuit and series or parallel arcing faults — the kind of low-energy, high-resistance arcs a standard MCB won't clear. The 1P+N configuration switches the line conductor only; the neutral is switched through but not protected. Installation depth is 70 mm, with the device body itself 68.5 mm deep.
Arc-fault detection — what the thresholds mean
The AFDD detects two arc modes. For series arcs (a loose connection or broken conductor in line with the load), the detection window runs from 1 A minimum up to 6 A maximum — right at the MCB's thermal rating, so it catches an arcing fault before the breaker's overcurrent trip would operate. For parallel arcs (line-to-neutral or line-to-ground), the detection range is 50 A minimum to 500 A maximum, covering the high-energy fault path. The unit does not include a short-time delay on the switching function; it trips instantaneously on arc detection. That 50 A minimum parallel-arc threshold is worth noting: it means the AFDD will not nuisance-trip on normal inrush from a motor or capacitive load that stays below that current level. The 500 A ceiling covers most branch-circuit arc faults without waiting for the MCB's magnetic trip at 6 kA.
