Arc-fault detection in one module width
The Siemens 5SV6016-7KK06 is a SENTRON AFDD-MCB combination — an arc-fault detection device and miniature circuit breaker integrated into a single compact unit, rated 230 V AC at 50 Hz with a C-curve 6 A trip characteristic and 6 kA breaking capacity per both EN 60898-1 and IEC 60947-2. It occupies one modular width (18 mm) on a DIN rail, making it a space-efficient choice for final circuits where both overcurrent protection and series arc-fault detection are required in a single housing.
The 6 kA breaking capacity (Icn = 6 kA per EN 60898-1, Icu = 6 kA per IEC 60947-2) is the standard domestic and light-commercial interrupting rating — adequate for most final sub-distribution boards where the prospective short-circuit current at the point of installation does not exceed 6 kA. The 1P+N design switches the line conductor and provides neutral switching, which is required in some regional wiring regulations for arc-fault protection devices to ensure the arc is fully extinguished. The unit is halogen-free and silicon-free, a material constraint often specified for clean-room, aerospace, or semiconductor-adjacent installations where outgassing must be controlled. Power loss is 0.87 W per pole in hot operating state at rated current — negligible for thermal coordination in a populated enclosure, but worth noting when calculating cumulative heat rise in a sealed distribution board.
Deployment context
Snap-on DIN rail (REG) mounting, any orientation, IP20 with connected protective device and conductors — intended for installation inside a distribution board or enclosure, not for wet or outdoor locations.
