The AFDD function detects series and parallel arc faults per IEC 62606, so this unit covers both overcurrent protection and arc-fault protection in a single DIN-rail module.
The 33 A full-scale is the maximum continuous current the metering electronics are calibrated for; the MCB's thermal trip element is sized for the same 33 A nominal. If your load draws more than 33 A steady-state, step up to the next frame size.
