Arc-fault and residual-current protection in one 18 mm slot
The Siemens SENTRON 5SV6316-7KK06 is a combined arc-fault detection device and residual-current circuit breaker (AFDD-RCBO) that packs overcurrent, earth leakage, and series/parallel arc-fault protection into a single 18 mm-wide module.
The 6 A rated current with C-curve magnetic release suits circuits with moderate inrush — think lighting banks, socket outlets, or small appliance groups. The 30 mA residual-current element (type A) detects pulsating DC fault currents common in electronics, so it covers modern loads with rectified front ends. Arc-fault detection covers both series arcs (2 A to 6 A) and parallel arcs (50 A to 500 A), addressing the two main failure modes that standard MCBs and RCCBs cannot see. The 1-pole + N design switches the phase and monitors the neutral; the neutral pole is switched, not just sensed, which matters for full isolation.
Mounting position is unrestricted — the arc-fault detection electronics are orientation-independent.
