It protects a single-phase final subcircuit against overload, short-circuit, and earth leakage in one unit, saving a DIN-rail position over separate RCD + MCB. Rated 20 A at 30 °C ambient with a C tripping characteristic (magnetic release at 5–10× In), it handles the inrush of motor starters, lighting banks, and small transformers without nuisance tripping. The residual-current element is Type A — it detects pulsating DC fault currents as well as sinusoidal AC, covering modern electronics and variable-speed drives. Breaking capacity is 4.5 kA per EN 60898 and 5 kA per IEC 60947-2, sufficient for most residential and light commercial distribution boards where the prospective short-circuit current stays under those thresholds.
The 20 A rating holds only at 30 °C. At 40 °C it derates to 19 A, at 45 °C to 18.4 A, at 50 °C to 18 A, and at 55 °C to 17.4 A.
Width is 18 mm, depth 77 mm, installation depth 70 mm, height 90 mm. Occupies 1 modular width. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction suits environments where outgassing during a fault could damage sensitive electronics or contaminate clean rooms.
