What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SV9316-7CN06 is a 1P+N RCD-operated circuit breaker (RCBO) from the SENTRON 5SV9 series, combining overcurrent protection and residual current detection in a single 18 mm wide module. Rated 6 A at AC with a C tripping characteristic, it handles moderate inrush from motorized loads or lighting banks without nuisance trips, while the 6 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2 covers most commercial and light industrial fault levels. The Type A residual-current sensing catches both sinusoidal AC faults and pulsating DC fault currents up to 6 mA smooth DC — important for circuits with rectified loads like VFDs, LED drivers, or switching power supplies.
Ratings that matter for fit
At 18 mm wide (1 width unit), it snaps onto a standard DIN rail and fits any distribution board with 1P+N slots. The 77 mm depth and 70 mm installation depth mean it clears shallow enclosures — check your gland plate clearance. Ambient temperature range of -25 to +55 °C covers most indoor panel environments, but the current derating curve matters: 6 A at 30 °C drops to 5.64 A at 40 °C, 5.46 A at 45 °C, 5.22 A at 50 °C, and 5.04 A at 55 °C. If your panel runs hot, size the upstream breaker for the derated value. Terminals accept solid or stranded conductors from 0.75 to 16 mm², so it handles both control-circuit wiring and power feeds without adapters. Maximum power loss is 2.3 W — negligible for thermal budgeting in a populated board. Overvoltage category III means it's rated for fixed-installation use downstream of the main distribution board, not for outlet-level protection.
