What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SV9316-7PK10 is an RCD-operated circuit breaker (RCBO) combining overcurrent protection and residual current detection in a single 18 mm wide module (1 MW). It protects a single-phase final subcircuit at 10 A rated current with a 30 mA residual-current trip threshold, Type A (sensitive to pulsating DC and AC sinusoidal fault currents). The 6 kA breaking capacity satisfies both EN 60898 and IEC 60947-2 requirements for domestic and light commercial distribution boards. Tripping characteristic C means it holds 5–10× In for short magnetic trips — suited to mixed resistive and moderate motor-start loads.
Thermal derating and real-world current handling
The 10 A rating holds at 30 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 9.4 A at 40 °C, 9.1 A at 45 °C, 8.7 A at 50 °C, and 8.4 A at 55 °C. If the panel runs warm — say 45 °C inside the enclosure — the continuous load must stay under 9.1 A to avoid nuisance tripping. The device is silicon-free, which matters in clean-room or potting-sensitive applications.
Mounting and integration
Snaps onto standard 35 mm DIN rail. The 18 mm width (1 MW) leaves room for other modules in a compact sub-distribution board. Installation depth is 70 mm behind the panel face; overall depth is 77 mm. Supply feeds from below. The IP20 rating applies only when the distribution board is installed with connected conductors — not a standalone outdoor part. Pollution degree 2 and overvoltage category III suit fixed indoor installations.
