The Siemens 5SY1716-2 is a SENTRON device protection switch — a 1-pole unit with an integrated auxiliary normally-open contact, rated 16 A with characteristic F1. Per the datasheet, it interrupts fault currents up to 3 kA AC per IEC 60934 and also carries a UL1077 listing, so it's accepted in both IEC and North American panel builds. The F1 curve is a fast-acting characteristic with a defined short-circuit let-through, intended for semiconductor or sensitive load protection where standard B/C curves would pass too much energy before tripping.
Snaps onto DIN rail per, occupies a single modular width unit (18 mm wide per). Mounts horizontally or vertically. IP20 finger-safe terminals; this is an enclosed-panel part, not for washdown environments.
Electrical ratings and operating conditions
Rated AC operating voltage is 230 V, with a maximum of 250 V in single-phase operation. DC side is rated 60 V, maximum 72 V. Supply frequency is 50/60 Hz. Ambient temperature range is -40 °C to +70 °C, with derating per the influence curve: 30 °C at 85% relative humidity, 60 °C at 20% rF.
