What the ratings mean for fit
The 5SY3202-7: C-curve trips between 5 and 10 times rated current — that's 10 to 20 A magnetic release. It's the standard choice for general-purpose loads like lighting, control transformers, and small motor circuits where inrush isn't extreme. The 2 A rating limits the continuous load to 2 A; don't oversize the breaker for a circuit that draws more. Breaking capacity: 4.5 kA per EN 60898 and 6 kA per IEC 60947-2. The higher IEC figure means it can interrupt a 6 kA fault under industrial panel conditions; the EN figure covers residential/commercial installations. Either way, it clears a short-circuit up to that level without welding the contacts. Rated for 400 V AC, 2-pole (switches both line and neutral if wired that way — neutral conductor switching is not built in, so the neutral is switched only if you connect it through the second pole). Overvoltage category III and pollution degree 3 suit it for fixed-installation distribution panels, not just final subcircuits.
Mounting and panel integration
Snaps onto DIN rail via the quick-assembly system — 2 modular width units (36 mm wide). Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm. Mount in any position; IP20 with connected conductors, so it's for enclosed panels, not washdown zones. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction matters for sensitive environments (clean rooms, medical).
