The Siemens 5SY4132-8 is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker with a D tripping characteristic, rated 10 kA breaking capacity per IEC/EN 60898-1 and 20 kA per IEC 60947-2. It carries a 400 V AC rating (440 V AC in single- or multi-phase operation) and a 60 V DC rating (72 V DC max) with 15 kA DC breaking capacity per IEC 60947-2. For North American installations, it also holds a 5 kA rating per UL 1077 and CSA C22.2 No.235. The IP20 rating applies with conductors connected, which is standard for enclosed panel gear. It's halogen-free and silicon-free, so it won't outgas corrosive compounds in sensitive environments like data centers or clean rooms.
The dual breaking-capacity rating is the key spec for panel coordination. The 15 kA DC rating at 60–72 V extends its use into DC bus applications like UPS outputs or solar combiner boxes. The D-curve's wide magnetic trip band (10–20× In) means it coordinates well with upstream SENTRON S-series or 3VA molded-case breakers for selective coordination — the downstream MCB clears a bolted fault before the upstream device sees it, keeping the rest of the panel live.
Rated for ambient temperatures from -40 °C to 75 °C, with humidity derating: 95% RH up to 55 °C, 55% RH up to 70 °C, 35% RH up to 75 °C. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: ±1 mm at 5–25 Hz, 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz.
