What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 5SY4213-6 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker, 2-pole, with a B tripping characteristic rated at 13 A. The B-curve trips between 3 and 5 times rated current — suited for resistive and general-purpose loads where inrush is moderate, not for motor-heavy circuits that need a C or D curve. The 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 covers standard domestic and light commercial fault levels; the 20 kA rating per IEC 60947-2 means it can also clear higher prospective faults in industrial panelboards where the supply transformer is close. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III confirm it for fixed installations in enclosures, not for portable equipment.
Panel integration and derating
Two modular width units (36 mm) on a DIN rail, with a quick-assembly fastening system — snaps onto the rail and clips into place without tools. The 76 mm depth and 70 mm installation depth mean it fits standard shallow enclosures; the combined terminal top and bottom accept wiring from either end. Mounting position is unrestricted. Derating is specified: at 35 °C it carries the full 13 A, at 40 °C it drops to 12.38 A, at 50 °C to 11.73 A, and at 60 °C to 11.02 A. If the panel ambient runs above 35 °C, size the load accordingly. The IP20 rating (with connected conductors) is typical for enclosed distribution boards — not for wet or dusty environments.
