Siemens 5SY4213-8CC11 — D-curve MCB for high-inrush loads
The Siemens 5SY4213-8CC11 is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker, 2-pole, D-characteristic, rated 13 A at 35 °C AC with a 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898. D-curve means it tolerates the inrush of motor starters, transformers, and other inductive loads without nuisance tripping — the magnetic trip fires at 10–20× rated current, not the 5–10× of a C-curve. That makes this the right choice for mechanical engineering and industrial panels where the load isn't purely resistive. The 2-pole design (2P) switches both phase conductors; there's no neutral pole integrated.
The 13 A rating holds at 35 °C ambient. Above that, the bimetallic strip trips earlier — the datasheet gives the derated values: 11.95 A at 40 °C, 11.38 A at 45 °C, 10.78 A at 50 °C, 10.15 A at 55 °C, and 9.48 A at 60 °C. If your enclosure runs hot (say 50 °C inside a sealed panel), you're effectively buying a 10.78 A breaker. Plan the load accordingly — don't size to the 35 °C figure unless you've got active cooling. Installation depth is 70 mm, total depth 76 mm.
