The 32 A rating at 400 V AC, with a 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898, means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to 10,000 A without upstream fuses needing to clear first, provided the prospective short-circuit current at its mounting point stays within that limit.
The 32 A rated current at 400 V AC sets the continuous load this MCB can carry without tripping under normal conditions. For a 3-phase motor drawing 32 A per phase, this 2-pole breaker protects two of the three phases — typically used in a 2-pole protected scheme where the third pole is a switched neutral or the load is single-phase. The D-curve trips magnetically between 10 and 20 times rated current (320–640 A), which is deliberately above the startup spike of most induction motors; a C-curve (5–10× In) would trip on the same motor's inrush. The 72 V DC maximum rating allows use in DC control circuits up to that voltage, but note the DC breaking capacity is not the same 10 kA — verify the DC performance curve if used on a DC bus.
Installation and mounting
Height is 90 mm. Combined terminals at both top and bottom allow looping through without separate distribution blocks. Sealable — the toggle can be locked in the ON or OFF position with a padlock, meeting lockout/tagout requirements. Touch protection is integral; IP20 with connected conductors means finger-safe but not protected against water ingress.
