It breaks 10 kA per EN 60898 and 15 kA per IEC 60947-2, so it handles both residential-panel and industrial-fault duties — the higher 15 kA figure is what you size the SCCR against in an industrial panel. Designed for railway applications, it's also at home in mechanical engineering and industry panels.
The 40 A rating is at 35 °C; at 40 °C ambient it derates to 37.56 A, at 50 °C to 34.96 A, and at 60 °C to 32.16 A. IP20 with connected conductors is the norm for DIN-rail mounted MCBs inside an enclosure; no extra sealing needed.
