The Siemens 5SY4302-8CV is a 3-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a D tripping characteristic and a rated short-circuit breaking capacity Icu of 15 kA at 400 V. The D curve means it tolerates high inrush currents — think motor starts, transformer energisation, or welding equipment — without nuisance tripping, while still clearing a hard fault within the Icu limit. That 15 kA at 400 V is the maximum fault current it can safely interrupt; if your prospective short-circuit current at the panel exceeds that, you need a higher-rated upstream device or a current-limiting breaker ahead of it.
