Product overview
Breaking capacity is 10 kA per EN 60898-1 for general distribution, 35 kA per IEC 60947-2 for industrial installations, and 5 kA per UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No.235 for North American supplementary protection. At DC (IEC 60947-2) it interrupts 15 kA up to 72 V.
The 5SY4306-7 is certified to IEC / EN 60898-1 (domestic-style MCB) and IEC / EN 60947-2 (industrial MCCB standard) as well as UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No.235 for supplementary protection in North America. This dual rating means it can serve as the main branch breaker in a European panel or as a supplementary protector in a UL 508A industrial control panel — the installer selects the applicable standard based on the end-equipment listing.
The 5SY4306-7 is a 3-pole C-curve breaker. It uses the SENTRON quick-assembly system for ganging with other SENTRON devices. Neutral conductor switching is not provided — this is a 3-pole-only device (no switched neutral). For a panel originally specified around the 5SL4363-7, note that the 5SL series is a different mechanical family — the 5SY uses a different terminal arrangement and busbar interface. While both are 3-pole C-curve MCBs, the 5SY4306-7 will not drop into a 5SL panel without rewiring the busbar and checking the terminal pitch. The 5SY is the industrial-grade line with higher interrupting capacity (35 kA vs 10 kA typical for 5SL).
Environmental and installation
Ambient temperature range is -40 °C to 75 °C, with humidity derating above 55 °C: max 95% RH at 55 °C, dropping to 35% RH at 75 °C. The breaker is sealable (e.g., for tamper-proofing in metering applications) and can be padlocked in the OFF position. Energy limitation class 3 means the let-through energy is limited to a level that protects downstream devices under short-circuit conditions — relevant for coordinating with downstream contactors or motor starters in a selective coordination study.
