At 35 °C ambient the breaker carries the full 40 A. At 40 °C it derates to 38.4 A, at 50 °C to 36.76 A, and at 60 °C to 35.04 A. That means in a crowded enclosure with multiple breakers side by side, the actual permissible load current is lower than the nameplate 40 A — size the downstream load for the ambient your panel sees, not the 35 °C figure.
The combined terminal at top and bottom accepts both busbar and conductor connections — no need to remove the busbar to land a wire.
