Integrator's spec recap
The Siemens 5SY4502-7CV is a 2-pole miniature circuit breaker with a C tripping characteristic, rated 2 A at 50/60 Hz AC. It carries a 15 kA breaking capacity per IEC 60947-2, which means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level at the rated voltage — enough for most industrial panel feeder and branch circuits where the prospective short-circuit current is known to be within that limit. The C-curve (5–10× In) suits it for moderate inrush loads like small motors, transformers, or lighting banks. Rated current derates with ambient temperature: 2 A at 35 °C, 1.85 A at 40 °C, 1.78 A at 45 °C, 1.7 A at 50 °C, and 1.61 A at 55 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 35 °C, size the breaker for the derated value — a common oversight in tightly packed enclosures.
Panel fit and mounting
Snaps onto a standard DIN rail via the quick-assembly system; mounting position is any, so vertical or horizontal rail orientation works. Occupies 2 modular width units (36 mm wide). Depth is 76 mm, installation depth 70 mm — verify clearance behind the rail, especially in shallow enclosures. The combined top and bottom terminals accept neutral conductor switching, and the sealable cover allows panel-lockout for tamper-proof isolation.
Environmental and compliance
Rated for a wide ambient range: -40 °C to 75 °C, with humidity limits per the surrounding temperature influence curve. IP20 protection (with connected conductors) — suitable for dry indoor panel environments, not for washdown or outdoor exposure. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction, degree of pollution 3, overvoltage category III. Suitability for operation includes mechanical engineering and industry. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: ±1 mm at 5–25 Hz, 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz.
