Integrator's note on the 5SY4613-5
The Siemens 5SY4613-5 is a 4-pole (3P+N) SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated at 13 A with a tripping characteristic A. This means the magnetic trip operates at 2 to 3 times In, making it suitable for protecting semiconductor loads or long cable runs where inrush is minimal — not for standard motor starting. The 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 covers domestic/commercial fault levels, while the 20 kA per IEC 60947-2 gives you headroom for industrial panel SCCR requirements. The 4 MW (72 mm) footprint is standard for a 4-pole MCB on a DIN rail.
Thermal derating and environment
Rated 13 A at 35 °C ambient, the 5SY4613-5 derates to 12.48 A at 40 °C, 12.22 A at 45 °C, 11.95 A at 50 °C, 11.67 A at 55 °C, and 11.39 A at 60 °C. If your panel runs hot — say 50 °C inside the enclosure — you lose about 1 A of headroom. The operating range spans -40 °C to 75 °C, with humidity limits of 95% up to 55 °C, tapering to 35% at 75 °C. Pollution degree 3 (conductive pollution) means it's rated for industrial environments, not clean office air.
Panel integration and compliance
Mounts in any position on a DIN rail via the quick assembly system. Installation depth is 70 mm; overall depth 76 mm. Combined terminals top and bottom accept conductors without separate busbar connectors. Touch protection is built in. The part is halogen-free and silicon-free — relevant if the panel is in a clean room or semiconductor fab where outgassing matters. Overvoltage category III means it's rated for fixed installation downstream of the main distribution board. IP20 with connected conductors — fine inside a closed panel, not for wet locations.
