The Siemens SENTRON 5SY4614-8 is a 4-pole miniature circuit breaker (3P+N) with a D tripping characteristic, rated at 0.3 A and 400 V AC. It is designed for quick assembly on DIN rail, fitting into a 4-module width (72 mm) with a 70 mm installation depth and 76 mm overall depth. The D-curve means it handles high inrush currents typical of motor and transformer loads — the magnetic trip triggers at 10–20× rated current, so it avoids nuisance trips on startup spikes while still clearing hard faults.
Breaking capacity and approvals
Rated breaking capacity is 10 kA per EN 60898, 35 kA per IEC 60947-2 at 400 V AC, and 15 kA at the DC maximum of 72 V. For UL 1077 / CSA C22.2 No. 235 applications, the interrupting rating is 5 kA at AC. The overvoltage category is III, suitable for fixed-installation distribution panels. The IP20 rating applies with connected conductors — standard for panel-mount breakers.
Installation and environment
Mounting position is any; the quick-assembly system snaps onto DIN rail. Conductor cross-section accepts 0.75 to 35 mm² solid or stranded wire. Ambient temperature range is -40 to +70 °C, storage -40 to +75 °C. The breaker is halogen-free and silicon-free, and sealable for tamper-proof installations. Touch protection is integrated.
