What this MCB carries
The Siemens 5SY4615-8CV is a 3-pole-plus-neutral miniature circuit breaker rated for a 15 kA interrupting capacity at 400 V, with a D1.6 trip curve. That 15 kA Icu at 400 V means it can safely clear a bolted fault up to that level without welding its contacts or rupturing the case — essential for panel coordination where the upstream transformer can deliver that kind of fault current. The D curve (1.6 A rated) is built for loads with high inrush: small motor starters, contactor coils, or control transformers where a B or C curve would nuisance-trip on the magnetizing surge.
Panel fit and integration
As a DIN-rail mounted MCB, the 5SY4615-8CV snaps onto standard 35 mm rail inside a distribution board or control panel. The 3P+N form factor occupies four module widths (72 mm at 18 mm per pole), so factor that into your enclosure fill calculation. The D1.6 rating is low enough that you'll want to verify the downstream load's actual full-load amps — this breaker protects the wiring, not the load, so the cable must be sized for at least 1.6 A continuous.
