Integrator's spec recap
The Siemens 5SY4620-8CC is a SENTRON miniature circuit breaker (MCB) with a D tripping characteristic, rated 20 A at AC and 440 V for multi-phase operation. Its 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 covers most industrial distribution panels downstream of a larger feeder breaker. The 4-pole 3P+N design switches the neutral conductor, so it's ready for TN or TT systems where neutral isolation is required.
What the ratings mean for fit
The D curve (10–20× In) is the key selection parameter here: it's sized for loads with high inrush, typically motor starters, transformers, or discharge lighting. At 20 A, expect this to hold a 15 A motor full-load current without nuisance tripping during start-up. The 10 kA SCCR at 400 V per EN 60898 means it safely interrupts a fault up to that level — adequate for most sub-distribution boards fed from a transformer of 630 kVA or less. The thermal derating table is worth noting: at 40 °C ambient the continuous rating drops to 18.8 A, and at 50 °C to 17.52 A; if the panel runs hot, size up one frame.
Panel integration and mounting
Mounts on standard DIN rail via the quick assembly system; 4 modular width units (72 mm) occupy the rail. Depth of 76 mm (70 mm installation depth) clears most shallow enclosures. The IP20 rating with connected conductors is typical for a panelboard — not for wet locations. Pollution degree 3 and overvoltage category III suit fixed installations in industrial environments. Any mounting position is allowed, which simplifies layout in crowded cabinets.
