What it is and what it does
The Siemens 5SY5113-6 is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker from the SENTRON series, rated 13 A with a B tripping characteristic. It breaks fault currents up to 10 kA per IEC/EN 60898-2 and UL1077, so it clears a hard short without the upstream device having to trip — that's selectivity in a 1-module-wide package.
What the ratings mean for fit
B-curve trips between 3 and 5 times rated current. The 10 kA breaking capacity at 230/400 V AC and 220 V DC covers most commercial panel fault levels. At 40 °C ambient the continuous rating derates to 12.48 A, and at 55 °C it is 11.67 A. Rated for both AC and DC operation (universal current), but DC polarity must be observed — the supply cord position note says AC as required, DC polarity fixed. That's a wiring detail that catches people on DC circuits.
Where it fits in the panel
Snap-on DIN rail mount, 18 mm wide (1 modular unit), 76 mm deep, 90 mm tall. Fits any standard distribution board or sub-panel. IP20 with connected conductors — fine for enclosed panels, not for wet areas. Pollution degree 3, overvoltage category III, so it's rated for fixed installations with conductive pollution (typical industrial control panels). Combined terminals top and bottom accept both cable and busbar. Sealable — you can lock the toggle in position for safety isolation. Halogen-free and silicon-free construction, which matters for clean-room or high-reliability environments where outgassing is a concern.
