What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 5SY5132-6 is a 1-pole miniature circuit breaker (MCB) rated 32 A with a B tripping characteristic, designed to protect branch circuits against overloads and short circuits. It carries a 10 kA breaking capacity under both AC (per IEC/EN 60898) and DC (per EN 60898-2) conditions, and also holds a UL1077 supplementary-protector listing — so it fits into both IEC and North American panel designs. The B curve trips between 3 and 5 times rated current, which makes it a good fit for resistive or general-purpose loads where you want fast clearing on a short but some tolerance for inrush.
What the ratings mean for your panel
At 18 mm wide (one modular unit), this MCB snaps onto a DIN rail and takes up minimal space in a crowded enclosure. The 76 mm depth plus 70 mm installation depth means it sits flush in standard distribution boards without sticking out past the cover. Rated for any mounting position, so you can lay it sideways in a shallow box if needed. IP20 with connected conductors — fine inside a closed panel, not for washdown areas. Temperature derating is spelled out: at 40 °C it still carries 30.46 A, at 50 °C it's 28 A, and at 60 °C it holds 27.14 A. If your panel runs hot — say near a motor drive or in a steel-mill control room — you don't have to oversize the breaker; just check the curve. The -40 °C minimum and 75 °C maximum storage range covers cold storage and hot shipping.
Standards and approvals
Certified to IEC/EN 60898-2 and UL1077, which means it's accepted in both IEC and UL-based panels. Overvoltage category III, pollution degree 3 — suitable for fixed installation in industrial switchgear. The halogen-free and silicon-free construction is a plus in environments where outgassing matters, like clean rooms or sealed enclosures near sensitive electronics.
