DC-rated MCB for 220 V circuits
The Siemens 5SY5163-7CC is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated for 63 A at 220 V DC, with a maximum DC voltage of 250 V. It carries a C tripping characteristic — the standard choice for moderate inrush loads like contactor coils, small DC motors, and control transformers where the startup surge is a few times the rated current but not extreme. The breaking capacity is 10 kA at 220 V DC per IEC 60947-2, which means it can safely interrupt a fault current up to that level without welding contacts or cascading failure upstream. That rating governs the available fault current the breaker can handle on a DC bus — if your panel's prospective short-circuit current exceeds 10 kA at the breaker terminals, you need a current-limiting device ahead of it or a higher-rated unit.
Panel fit and mounting
Width is 18 mm (one modular unit), depth 76 mm, height 90 mm. It snaps onto a DIN rail via the quick-assembly system and can be mounted in any position — handy when the enclosure layout is tight or the rail is vertical. Installation depth is 70 mm, so it clears most standard 80 mm deep enclosures. The terminals are combined (top and bottom), accepting conductors for the rated current without needing a separate busbar adapter for the line side. IP20 with connected conductors — fine inside a closed panel, not for wet locations.
