DC-rated miniature circuit breaker for 80 A loads
The Siemens 5SY5180-6CC is a 1-pole SENTRON miniature circuit breaker rated for DC circuits up to 250 V DC with a B tripping curve and an interrupting capacity of 10 kA. At 35 °C it carries 80 A; derate to 76 A at 40 °C, 73.92 A at 45 °C, 71.84 A at 50 °C, and 69.6 A at 55 °C — the thermal derating curve is published, so you can size it for elevated panel temperatures without guessing. The B-curve (3–5× In magnetic trip) is the standard choice for resistive and general-purpose DC loads where no high inrush is expected.
DIN-rail footprint and panel fit
Snaps onto DIN rail via the quick-assembly system, occupying 1 modular width unit (18 mm wide) with a depth of 76 mm and height of 90 mm. Installation depth is 70 mm. Mounting position is unrestricted, and the IP20 rating (with connected conductors) means it belongs inside a closed panel — not exposed to washdown or dust.
Environmental and compliance notes
Halogen-free and silicon-free construction. Ambient operating range spans -40 °C to 75 °C, with humidity limits of 95% up to 55 °C, 55% up to 70 °C, and 35% at 75 °C. Vibration resistance per IEC 60068-2-6: ±1 mm at 5–25 Hz, 50 m/s² at 25–150 Hz. Pollution degree 3, overvoltage category III. Sealable terminals (top and bottom combined terminals) support tamper-proofing for metering or critical circuits.
