SENTRON 5SY5240-6KK11 — 40 A B-curve MCB for universal-current protection
Its 10 kA breaking capacity per EN 60898 (AC) and 10 kA per EN 60898-2 (DC at 440 V) means it can safely interrupt faults up to that level without cascading upstream — a key figure for selectivity studies on a distribution board.
The B-curve trips between 3 and 5 times rated current, so at 40 A that's 120–200 A magnetic trip threshold — suited for resistive and general-purpose loads, not high-inrush motor circuits (where a C or D curve would be the call). The 40 A rating holds at 35 °C ambient; derate to 37.56 A at 40 °C, 34.96 A at 45 °C, and 33.6 A at 55 °C. The 2-pole design (2 MW wide, 36 mm per module) handles single-phase or DC line-plus-neutral protection.
